“We Will Focus on Our True North”
The National Rental Home Council (NRHC), whose members provide quality homes to families across the country, is the leading voice for the single-family rental and build-to-rent industry. Under the leadership of its new CEO, Adrianne Todman, NRHC supports and advocates on behalf of the housing providers who are providing families with choice — choice on where they want to live and what schools they want their children to attend.
The Honorable Adrianne R. Todman is a nationally recognized leader in housing and community development, known for her dynamic leadership and steadfast commitment to creating resilient communities. She most recently served as both Acting Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development playing a critical role in advancing housing solutions across the country.
Prior to her tenure at HUD, Ms. Todman was the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, the nation’s largest member association of housing and community development professionals.
Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Todman has championed initiatives that foster thriving neighborhoods. In Washington, D.C., her leadership at the D.C. Housing Authority resulted in the development and preservation of thousands of affordable homes, as well as education and civic centers. While there, she also prioritized resident engagement and services for youth.

A frequently requested speaker and servant leader, she has been honored by multiple organizations who have applauded her unwavering dedication to people, places, and impactful outcomes. She is a proud alumna of Smith College.
Adrianne’s vision for NRHC focuses on telling the real story of why single-family rentals, and the rental industry, are critical to the American housing experience, and the important role that the private sector plays, and has always played, in housing. Under her leadership, NRHC will continue to empower its members as they deliver high-quality rental experiences while driving innovation and long-term growth in the single-family rental market.
“I have had the great pleasure of working in the housing industry throughout my career. While leading HUD was an extraordinary experience, some of the most meaningful work I’ve done was on the front lines of housing. I’ve managed housing, built housing, worked closely with residents, and therefore understand the challenges and opportunities that our members face.”
“I also lead a national housing association with members of various sizes all across the country. So, I also understand the importance of delivering a solid member experience. The NRHC Team is fabulous, and we recently added Terrie Suit as our new COO. Terrie has a rich experience in housing as well and has held multiple leadership positions at the state level.
She most recently served as the CEO of the Virginia Association of Realtors and previously was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, where she chaired the Virginia Housing Commission and the General Laws Committee, which oversaw real estate and housing policy. Together, the team will deliver a best-in-class member experience, that is our true north.”
Through education, advocacy, and networking, NRHC equips members with industry research, legislative updates, and best practices in operations, technology, and resident experience. NRHC hosts conferences, webinars, and regional events that bring together professionals to share ideas, explore innovations, and collaborate on challenges unique to single-family rental communities.
A cornerstone of NRHC’s work is advocacy. The organization actively engages with policymakers at the state and national levels to ensure that legislation and regulations consider the needs of rental homeowners and their residents. NRHC also monitors emerging policies to help members anticipate challenges and adapt their strategies accordingly.
