From Soccer Star to Real Estate Entrepreneur

“I Take Goal Setting Very Seriously”

Rita Tower is an independently owned and operated franchise business owner with HomeVestors® of America, Inc. (HVA) in the Metro Houston market. She started her franchise, Tower Investment Group, ten years ago after “dabbling” in real estate on her own but decided that she needed to take her small real estate business to the next level.

From Soccer to Investing

After high school, Rita was accepted into the legendary University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill women’s soccer program, where she and her Tar Heel teammates went undefeated during her collegiate career. While there, the team won four National championships, and Rita made the United States Women’s National Soccer Team in her junior year.

After college, Rita shifted to coaching, taking a job as Director of Training for a soccer club in Houston. She always had focus on a singular mission: winning. Having spent a decade coaching and mentoring young soccer players, Rita left the soccer world and took her “winning” attitude and work ethic to the full-time world of real estate.

Becoming a HVA Business Owner

“I did some real estate investing prior to HomeVestors while I was still in the soccer world. In fact, even after I bought my HomeVestors franchise, I remained a coach for several years, so I was doing two jobs,” explained Rita. “It was when I left soccer and focused full-time on real estate that my business really took off.”

As is the case with many other franchisees, Rita became involved with HomeVestors because of their lead-generation system and phenomenal advertising program. “However, the biggest benefit for me was the education I received from the other franchisees, especially my Development Agent (DA), Eddie Gant. To put it simply, Eddie Gant and HomeVestors changed my life.”

Again, her determined focus on winning paid off. Since 2019, Rita has won the HomeVestors “Rising Star” award each year, an award given to the franchisee who demonstrably grows their business every year. “Of all the awards I have won over the years, this is the award I am most proud of,” exclaimed Rita.

In the Present

Today, Rita is one of the top producers in Houston within the HomeVestors system. “Houston is one of the most affordable markets in the country, but there is also a lot of competition from investors and agents from outside the system,” said Rita. “But I do love competition!”

Into the Future

“I take goal setting very seriously,” proclaimed Rita. “I have big goals for 2025 and beyond, and the primary goal is GROWTH. My focus is doing a healthy mix of wholesaling, fix-and-flips, and building a strong rental portfolio. However, there is nothing more important to me than sitting around a kitchen table and helping sellers resolve an ‘ugly’ real estate situation.”

“There is so much to love about HomeVestors, from their great lead generation program to their advertising system to the great people I get to associate with and learn from. I will say it one more time, ‘HomeVestors changed my life’”.
